Obituary for Stuart F. Cain

Stuart F. Cain, age 88, of Fredonia, New York, died Monday September 17 after a brief illness at the UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa. Stuart was born May 8, 1930 in Aliquippa, Pa. to the late E. Stuart and Martha Fouse Cain. He graduated from Oakmont High School in Oakmont PA in 1948. Stuart attended Rutgers University on a football scholarship for one year before enlisting in the U.S. Airforce, serving during the Korean conflict. After being discharged from the Air Force he continued his education at Bucknell University, graduating in 1957. It was at Bucknell University he met his future wife Joyce “Joy” Lines. After graduation from Bucknell he was hired by Allegheny Ludlum as an Industrial Engineer and eventually relocated to Fredonia, N.Y., retiring in 1996 from AlTech Specialty Steel Corporation. Stuart was a Free Mason for 55 years and Past Master of the Forest Lodge in Fredonia. He was also member of the Fredonia Planning Board 1996-2016, where he served as Chairman for several years. Stuart was involved with Boy Scouts of America, was an active member of the Fredonia First United Methodist Church serving as chairman of the membership committee, chairman of the finance committee, worked with the youth groups and sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Buffalo chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Stuart is survived by his wife, Joyce “Joy” Cain; his son, Stuart A. Cain (Kristine Yont Cain) of Holden, MA., three grandchildren: Douglas, Michael and Elizabeth Cain. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Sally Ann Boulton.

No prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Fredonia First United Methodist Church, 25 Church Street, Fredonia, N.Y. on Saturday October 6th at 2:00 pm with visitation at the Church from 1-2 pm. (A mMasonic Service under the auspices of the Forest Lodge will being at 2 pm, immediately followed by the emorial service. Military Honors will follow the memorial service with the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council.) Flowers are gratefully declined.
