Obituary for Eleanor M. Niesciur (Anderson)

Eleanor A. Niesciur (Anderson), 94, formerly of Dunkirk, N.Y., died Saturday December 1, 2018 at the Harris Hill Nursing Home in Clarence, N.Y. Eleanor was born February 4, 1924 in Dugger, IN. to the late Burl J. and Blanche R. (Bishop) Anderson. On May 1, 1954 she married Leonard M. Niesciur. The couple was married 35 years at the time of Leonard’s death on February 7, 1990. Eleanor is survived by her children: Constance A. (Joseph A.) Eberle of Clarence, N.Y., Leonard M. (Susan B.) Niesciur, Jr. of Snyder, N.Y., and Alan J. (Stephanie B.) Niesciur of Fayetteville, AR.; grandchildren: Danielle M., Christopher A. and Gabriella R. Eberle, Sophie C. and Charles B. Niesciur, Courtney E. and Shaun A. Niesciur; a sister, Margaret Lynn (late Clifford) Aseltine of Houston, TX. Besides her husband and parents, Eleanor is predeceased by her grandson Matthew J. Eberle and her sister Jean Elizabeth (late Jack) Gray.

After her family moved to Detroit MI, Eleanor attended Cooley High School. She then went on to graduate with a degree in pharmacy from Wayne State University. Eleanor met her future husband Leonard while working as a pharmacist at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo, NY. In the late 1950’s, Eleanor together with her husband Leonard, purchased and operated Main Street Pharmacy in Dunkirk N.Y. until their retirement in the 1980’s.

Eleanor was adoring, caring, and compassionate. She was devoted to the happiness of her family and friends. Eleanor enjoyed the arts. She loved music of many genres from opera to rap, reading everything from novels to The New Yorker, drawing and painting in different mediums. Eleanor was also big sports fan, especially baseball, basketball and tennis. Living in Detroit, she became a huge Tigers (baseball) fan and remained one throughout her life.

Services will be private. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia, N.Y. On-line condolences may be made at larsontimkofuneralhome.com.
