Mary Louise (Vendetti) Conti, 102, of Fredonia, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2019, at the Chautauqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mary was born to Peter and Theresa “Rose” Vendetti on June 27, 1916 in Dunkirk. She was one of nine children. In 1934, Mary became the first in her family to earn a high school diploma, graduating from Dunkirk High School on her 18th birthday. On November 18, 1939 she married Fiore Conti Sr. and celebrated 53 wonderful years together before his passing in 1993.
While Mary was a homemaker for the majority of her life, she was also employed at the Silk Mill in Dunkirk, Fredonia Seed Company, and also worked with her husband on their farm. In 1948, they moved to Eagle Street in Fredonia, where they raised their two children, Carol and Fiore Jr.
Mary was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed making cucidati for Christmas, playing bingo and the slot machines at the casino, and rooting for the Buffalo Bills and her beloved New York Yankees.
Mary is survived by her two children, Carol Aitken and Fiore (Cindy) Conti Jr., both of Fredonia. Sisters-in-law Helen Vendetti of New Jersey and Phillipa Vendetti of Ohio. Ten grandchildren, Natalie Allen, Niki Alling, Harry Aitken (Pam Sam), William (Jessica) Aitken, Tracey Conti (Jeannine Babcock), Michelle Conti, Renee (Bob) Raineri, Kimberly (James) Muscato, Vincent Conti (Ashley Hawley) and Andrew Conti. She is further survived by 15 great grandchildren, 8 great great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, her husband Fiore, her siblings Phillip Vendetti, George Vendetti, Philomena Joy, Ralph Vendetti, Joseph Vendetti, Helen Schibetta, Russell Vendetti, and Peter Vendetti as well as by her son in-law, Gary Aitken and several nieces and nephews.

Babe and Cindy,
Very sorry for your loss. The few times over the years we had a chance to meet Mary she was such a nice person to talk to. She will be missed by all who knew her very much. What a wonderful life she was blessed with.

Dear Carol and Fiore, Your mom had a warm and loving life and will be missed greatly. She had a wonderful gift of finding fun and laughter with many. I hope she is laughing with Uncle Fiore now and maybe playing BINGO!!! Love, Nancy
