Obituary

Patricia A. “Pat” (Waters) Straight, of Fredonia, NY, age 79, died Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at home with her loving family by her side after a 6 year battle with Lymphoma.

She was born on May 1, 1940 in Dunkirk, NY, the daughter of the late Betty (Bullock) Moffett and Charles Waters; grand-daughter of the late Bernard and Iva (Carpenter) Bullock. Patricia graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1958. She married David Straight and they were married up until the time of her death.

They briefly resided in Fredonia, then Cheektowaga, NY, for 6 years, before returning to Fredonia to make their home. She worked at Erie 2 Boces for 39 years in the Media Center, making many life long friends and reluctantly retiring at the age of 70! Patricia lived life centered around her faith and family. She was a 45 plus year member of the Fredonia Presbyterian Church where she served many years as Deacon, assisted with the Food Pantry and was Treasurer for Presbyterian Women. Patricia was an avid gardener, lovingly tending to her flower beds. She also enjoyed oil and watercolor painting, baking and cooking. She had a zest for life, and was especially passionate when it came to family get togethers and her grand children.

Patricia is survived by her husband David Straight, of Fredonia, NY; daughters Lauri (Eric) Zebracki, of Fredonia, NY, Jody Scott (Frank Jusko) of Williamsport, PA, and son Andy (Cathi) Straight of Cassadaga, NY. She was the proud Mema of Sam Scott, of Williamsport, PA, Meredith Zebracki, of Fredonia, NY, and Tyler Grisanti, of Forestville, NY; Niece of Marian Scott of Phoenix AZ; cousin of Susan Reeves of Phoenix AZ; Terry White of Frostproof, FL.

Patricia and her family are forever grateful for the loving care received from Dr. Jan Rothman of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Erie, PA and Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care.

A Memorial Service celebrating Patricia’s life will be held Friday July 12th at 11 am at the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Avenue, Fredonia, NY. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial contributions in Patricia Straight’s memory may be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmont Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750 or the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Avenue, Fredonia, NY. Arrangements by David J. Dengler.
