Obituary

Alan R. Alaimo, 62, of Fredonia, N.Y., died Monday July 29, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo.
He was born December 23, 1956 in Dunkirk, the son of Charles P. Alaimo and the late Mary Jane (VandeVelde) Alaimo. He attend Dunkirk and Fredonia schools, and graduated from Fredonia High School. Alan was a 37 year employee of Red Wing in Fredonia. Also a longtime active member of Christ Community Church in Fredonia, and a Life-Member of the Fredonia Beaver Club, (member number 007). He was an avid bowler and die hard Buffalo Bills fan. Alan was an old time movie buff, as he enjoyed the Turner Classic Movie (TCM) channel and the Fox News station.
Tim Hortons was one of his favorite places where he enjoyed a good cup of coffee and his many friends there. He was a loving and devoted son and was proud that he was able to assist his father, Charles, by being able to drive him around town. Alan was known for his dry wit and great sense of humor. Never one to dwell on his life’s challenges, he would joke about his peg leg, telling people that he “Worked at Ihop.” He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Above all, he loved Jesus, and would often ask people he met if they “Were saved?”

Alan is survived by: his wife of 20 years, Mary Margaret (Lukawski) Alaimo, of Fredonia; his daughter, Lea Stroming (Joseph), of Wheaton, IL; 6 sons: Chad Alaimo (Veronica), of Albany, N.Y., Matt Alaimo, of Cheektowaga, N.Y., Joseph Alaimo (Nicole), of Elma, N.Y., Justin Agostine (Shelly) of Monument, CO., Sam Agostine (Danielle) of Guthrie, KY. and Steven Agostine (Jennifer) of Fredonia; 16 grandchildren; 2 sisters: Denise DeGolyer (Robert) of Summerville, S.C., and Lisa Delcamp (Daniel) of Brocton; and his brother, Charles Alaimo, of Buffalo. Also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins; besides his mother, Alan is predeceased by his brother, Craig Alaimo. Visitation hours are Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the LARSON-TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia. Funeral services will be held Friday at Christ Community Church, 219 Berry Road, Fredonia at 10 am. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions in Mr. Alaimo’s memory may be made the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (billygraham.org) or the Amputee Coalition of America (amputee-coalition.org). Mary-Margaret I am so sorry to not be able to get down to pay my respects but couldn't find anyone that could help me since I use a wheel-chair. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family at this time. Dave will be coming this afternoon to pay his respects. My deepest sympathy goes out to you and the family. God Bless, Roberta dewey

So sorry to hear of the passing of Al- Recall the days he hung out with my brother Randy and the Davis gang; He bowled for our Bar-Crest farm Bowling team way back in the good old days and was the big brother then to my long passed high school alphabetical friend Craig- who I also miss.
Prayers to his family from an old friend
